| PROGRAM OVERVIEW |
This is one year program designed to provide students with basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to enter the health care system as a Health Career. Students develop knowledge,skills and judgement in assessing, planning,implementing and evaluating patient care for all age groups. A focus is placee on the ability to communicate in caring and treatment manner ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: The school will follow the entry requirement set by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) of Ghana. The school welcomes graduates from second cycle institutions-SSSCE and WASSCE. (i)For SSSCE Candidates: An aggregate score of more than twenty-seven(27) (ii)For WASSCE candidates :An aggregate score of more than fourty-two(42) EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES Upon qualifying,health care assists will have job opportunities working closely with health care team in a varity of community clinics,private homes, and homes for the elderly,rehabilitative,medical,surgical and obsteric units. Health Care Assistants aid nurses,physicians and other health professionals in the delivery of direct care to patients. They may perform vital sign asessments, bed making, patient hygiene, patient room cleanliness, help patient's walk, and may assist patient's at home. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION According to the NVTI Council,students completing the program successfully must register with the Institue and take a qualifying examination in order to practice. Programs are offered in English and are delivered using a variety of instruction modes.Course may be offered in the classroom,lab,clinical environment or on-line. Upon successful registration,each student is provided with various documentation,including ID cards and an e-mail account which is used to communicate important information about program and course events.
