Pre-Health Sciences: Pathway to (Certificate 1 Year - 2 Semesters) PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Pre-Health Sciences,Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas (PHSC) is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a health science career. This two-semester program provides the foundation necessary for success in a health sciences program such as Nursing, Physician Assistant,Medical Laboratory Science, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant. It is also designed for individuals who would like to strengthen their English Language for academic purposes, mathematics, biology, chemistry and critical thinking or physics skills as well as familiarize themselves with college life and college workload. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn more about potential careers in the health sciences while at the same time earning college credits that can be transferred to other health sciences or science-related programs such as those offered by Mankessim College of Health Sciences and other tertiary institutions. Pre-health program is also designed for non-science students or (WASSC/SSSCE) student's who donot meet the admission requirements into our diploma or certificate in medical laboratory technology. Students would be given admission into the diploma or certificate program after successfully completion of this course. Students will develop their knowledge and skills in communication, mathematics, human anatomy, biology, physics and organic/inorganic chemistry so they are well prepared for the rigours of their next academic program. This is a one-year (two-semester certificate-level program).Student who successfully complete the one year Pre-Health program at Mankessim College of Health Sciences or an approved institution are eligible to apply for the certificate / diploma in medical laboratory program. MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Students with SSSCE / WASCCE Certificate, or its equivalent may apply.Mature student can also apply. Atleast the applicant should have passes in English language, Mathematics and Integrated science. With regard to the electives, applicants should also have passes
